Thanks Gord for continuing to shine a light on the Coutts saga, and in this case the Fifth Estate's exercise in self-exposure. I am half way into your show, and will add more. But this is important analysis. Astonishing (or maybe not astonishing) that the CBC goes back to the Anti-Hate people - Kurt Philips - to pull Diagolon out of their rabbit hat, and try to scare Canadians once again.
Important to hear early into your show guest Jaclyne Martin's incisive observations about the CBC's role in framing the narrative around the Coutts Four; And that CBC violated their own publication ban by releasing ITO information.
That the CBC documentary presented a narrative that was rejected by the Lethbridge court. The "evidence" - for example the RCMP display of a cache of weapons on and around a table with the RCMP Cruiser in the background - was never allowed in the court. It was rejected as evidence and never presented by the Crown in its case to the jury.
As one guest on your show stated, "If we don't know who these weapons belong to, and they weren't presented as evidence in the Coutts Two trial, why are they in the documentary?"
And as Ms. Martin stated, "There's nothing illegal about the storage of weapons that they seized from him (Jerry) either. They were properly stored behind the seat as is allowed in transporting of your legally firearms with the ammunition stored in the front or in the glove box."
So many problems with the CBC's documentary. And your panel breaks down how the CBC has offered up a case study in propaganda in Canada in 2024.
Finally made it through to the end of 3 hours and 49 minute panel dissection of the Fifth Estate's 'documentary' on the Coutts men. In addition to what I posted earlier, among so much that has been covered here:
a) I think it is ironic and important what former Coutts Mayor, Jimmy Willets states: "We tend to ignore people that we don't want to listen to. We tend to brush them off and say, well, they're a bunch of nuts..." Had the Fifth Estate taken the former Coutts mayor's advice, it wouldn't have run a documentary that depicts the Coutts Four as a bunch of nuts.
b) Without context Tony Olienick's statement warning that we could see "Chinese troops" in Canada sounds crazy. But the CBC could have gone through its own archive of news headlines to remind viewers of Chinese Police Stations here in Canada, Chinese military training at CFB Petawawa, and Chinese foreign interference in Canadian elections. In that context, Olienick's statements seem quite plausible as he wonders what's next on the horizon.
c) The criminologist in the Fifth Estate describing the Coutts Four as "extremely privileged individuals," seems to not be aware of their working-class profiles (not-criminal as well).
d) I think Buck's research about U.S. State Department being involved (interacting) with the Liberal cabinet in Ottawa during convoy protests; the FBI seeding the language about IMVE (ideologically motivated violent extremists) to Canadian agencies and senior staff/politicians to amplify; and Dept of Homeland Security being involved in deplatforming Canadians supporting the convoy on social media is very significant. (As well as Biden-Trudeau phone call...) Any links to this information would be very useful to read.
I'm still thinking about what to do next. I've totally isolated myself from society and am comfortable with it. I'm glad someone is still engaged and reporting on it.
Hey Gord and Company, You all know me, I believe. So I am about 2/3 of the way through your take down of this piece of garbage the CBC is trying to pass off as journalism. I guess one of the saving graces about the show is that CBC does not have a very big audience, much in the same way the CNN and MSNBC in the states don't because of their constant lies. Anyhow having said that, I have a few questions and observations. I am curious as to why the cop kept asking Tony if he knew if had had any explosives on his property. That is a very odd question to ask. Do you have weapons might have been the question given the 'situation.' so why the focus on explosives? As well, when you are referring to the fact that this show is based on the CBC report on the Coutts Four that breached the publication ban, is this the article you are referring to?
I am forging ahead with the rest of your podcast. Some very interesting observations, and I think the CBC should have their asses sued for this irresponsible and inflammatory reporting on these men. However, lawsuits take money, and these poor guys have already been financially beaten down just to pay for their defence against this vindictive government.
Thank you for doing this Gord. Unfortunately I haven’t had the stomach to listen to CBC lies- but I’ll try as I’m certain this was a lot of work on your behalf. I’ve been really struggling. Can’t even seem to get through Ray McGinnis”s book “unjustified” without crying or getting extremely angry. It has been a tough pill for me to swallow just how far gone Canada and more specifically Canadians are. A loss of innocence through all of this, which has deeply affected me. Hubby and I are “overseas” contemplating life, trying to determine next steps- at a crossroads of sorts. Discussing the greenest of grasses, missing family (yes, even the estranged ones), the meaning of “a life well lived” and deeper next steps. It has been cathartic but regardless the chorus of this song pretty much sums up our struggle.

Thanks for your dedication.
On this very topic, with a sharp focus on Coutts and CBC, see

Excellent work, Professor Hall, bummer the algorithm didn't get that in fronr of me as of late.
I'd like to be included in some of the discussions you organize or are organized around you. Anyway, thanks for your interest.
Could try and get you on in the New Year!

Thanks for your exposé.
Reminding myself to listen when I get back on the road. Thank u Gord
Thanks darlin, Happy Trails out there.
How does that go? they know they're lying we know. Fuck it. They're all Fucking liars!
This podcast has pretty well covered the whole Coutts incident in a fair and unbiased fashion.
It shows how far the enemies of the people will go to try and silence our voices.
To me it is a foundation from which I can navigate my next move as a parent and grandparent. Many thanks!
Thanks for your kind words and for listening.
